Dr. Jonathon O. Russell, MD, FACS, is a distinguished Head and Neck Surgeon specializing in thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Raised in rural Arizona, he achieved academic excellence, graduating summa cum laude and as Student Body President of the Arizona State University East College and later with honors from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Russell chose to specialize in Head and Neck Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and further honed his skills through a fellowship at Johns Hopkins, where he pioneered innovative approaches such as "scarless" remote access thyroid and parathyroid surgery and radiofrequency ablation (RFA).
Dr. Russell's contributions to thyroid and parathyroid surgery are substantial, with over 100 scientific papers to his name and leadership in advancing minimally invasive techniques. During his tenure as Director of the Multi-Disciplinary Thyroid Tumor Center at Johns Hopkins, he trained surgeons globally and demonstrated the effectiveness of novel procedures like RFA.
